NEW TWITTER BOOKMARK OPTION – Now my privacy is ensured. I can read, re-read and save whatever content I like on my twitter account without the fear of anyone judging me and even knowing what am doing on my account. I love this new bookmark feature.
Twitter is an online news and social networking service which started in 2006 where users post and interact with messages, known as “tweets.” As of 2016, Twitter had more than 319 million monthly active users.
Unlike Facebook that gives room for lengthy/voluminous character space, twitter originally restricted it to 140 characters, but on November 7, 2017, the limit was doubled to 280 characters for all languages except Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.
This character limit double is one of the many things twitter has done to improve its services to its users and to make sure it remains number one instant new app.
Well, just recently, twitter just added a new feature that is going to for sure change the app usage. It is called the Bookmark Feature. This feature works more like the bookmark feature on your web browser, only that, what you would be bookmarking here is not links to sites, rather, actual tweets.
Traditionally, when scrolling through your timeline and you come across an interesting tweet, you are forced to pick between two options, read it instantly or retweet it so you can visit it later since its now going to appear in your timeline because you retweeted it.
But this is not so cool if you are a heavy user of the app because you would have to do a lot of searching to find that exact tweet days later when you want to make reference to it. The case might also be the case of a content you like, but you don’t want it to appear on your wall due to the account you run. Take for example, you run an official account and you come across a tweet that picks your interests, but you can’t read the tweet at that moment and you also can’t retweet it on your timeline, the best thing to do in such a case is to bookmark it.
This new bookmark feature also breeds a level of privacy on your account because it is only visible to you, your followers or the people following you can’t see it.
HOW TO USE
To use this feature is very easy. All you have to do is simple. Once you come across a tweet or thread that you like and down want to append a signature on it (Retweet or like), all you just have to do is click on the share icon as shown below:
Then a dialog box shows, select “add tweet to bookmarks”:
And that is all. To view all your bookmarks, just click on your side menu and select bookmarks. That’s all.
Unfortunately, this function is only available on the mobile app (Android and iOS) but not present on the web version.
Watch this short clip to see how it actually works:
Twitter Bookmarks has arrived. Now, other folks won’t be able to see what you’ve saved to read later. Boom. pic.twitter.com/eNPHC6Dnf6
