TECNO Spark 2 Unboxing – TECNO Mobile, the brain behind the long line of budget smartphones seemingly designed for the Nigerian economy, recently released the latest member of their spark line of devices – the Tecno Spark 2. Spark 2 is a thing of wonder, especially when you consider the specifications and the latest additions such as the Face ID which hitherto was considered an exclusive an exclusive reserve of high-end smartphones. No gainsaying, this smartphone can fairly contest for the title of “Lord of budget phones”.
We were opportune to lay our hands on the device as soon as it was released, and we will take you through our experience unboxing the TECNO Spark 2, as well as our first impression of this impressive smartphone.
Our first thought considering the major features of the TECNO Spark 2 was that the OEM have decided to tweak this phone with major upgrades such as the 6-inch HD+ touchscreen and the 3500mAh non-removable battery. We thought the 1GB RAM however was a tidbit letdown, we are not quick to forget the budget phone label it carries.

TECNO Spark 2 unboxing – Design
At first glance, the Spark 2 struck us as a bigger version of the Camon CM. For its retail price, we were not surprised at the plastic back cover. Thankfully, the beautiful design of the Spark 2 makes all the difference.
The back houses the 13MP camera (same as on Spark 1), with the 3-ring LED flash being a significant step-up on its predecessor. The fingerprint scanner is also located on the back of the device.
The Spark 2 follows in the steps of the Camon X and X Pro with the 3.5mm audio jack joining the speaker grille, charging port, noise cancellation sensor at the bottom of the phone, leaving the top bare.
The power button, as well as the volume rockers, occupies the right-hand side of the phone, while you can find the SIM/SD card tray on the left.

The aspect ratio on the 6.0” full HD+ IPS Capacitive screen is an impressive 18:9, with a resolution of 1440 x 720.
At the front, the Spark 2 sports the 8MP selfie camera featuring dual LED flash. The microphone is also located at the front. Three on-screen buttons – multitasking toggle button, home button and the exit button – join the aforementioned at the front of the device.
There are three on-screen buttons – the multitasking button to access recently opened apps, home button and the exit button.
What did we think about the phone?
The Naijmobile team was really impressed with the TECNO Spark 2 on our first encounter with the device. The RAM could have been better, but the phone performed really well despite the RAM limitations – the powerful processors definitely had a part to play.
Considering this is labeled a budget smartphone, we did not quite expect all the cool features such as the TECNO HiOS V3.3 imposed on the Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition). The several “Go Apps” preinstalled on the phone gives a feel of versatility.
Again, we thought the Spark 2 lock screen notifications would be activated by default, but we had to activate this feature in the settings section. Other than that, it was smooth and sleek.
Currently, the Spark 2 by TECNO Mobility retails for ₦36,200 only in Nigeria, which is a great bargain considering the cool features and additions to this beautiful smartphone.
We will keep you up-to-speed on our experience taking the Tecno Spark 2 on a spin. Feel free to drop your impression of this beautiful device in the comment section.
