You Did Not Vote for Me In 2015 And 2019 But I Won My Elections – Ortom Blast Idoma Stakeholders.
Governor Samuel Ortom Of Benue State has blasted the Idoma stakeholders led by the Deputy Governor of Benue state Benson Abounu and the Senator Representing Benue South Senatorial District Patrick Abba Moro saying, the Idoma people did not vote for him in 2015 and 2019 but he won his election as such they do not have any right to demand for Governorship position.
Governor Ortom who was responding to claims by the people of Benue South who insisted that it was wrong for the Governor to do a consensus pitching the Tiv people against the Idoma and igede people of ‘zone C’. The Benue South made their submission through their representatives noted that, what the governor should have done was to leave the contest open for everyone in free and fair primary elections and not to engineer ethnic rivalry between the three dominant tribes in the state.
They continued that, the Governor as a leader was wrong to champion an ethnic agenda, saying it’s clear he hates the people of Benue South as demonstrated by him, they said, they will pursue their aspirations by going into primaries and not the kangaroo arrangement by the governor in the name of consensus.
Angered by the truth as submitted by the Idoma stakeholders, Governor Ortom threatened to commence the impeachment of the deputy governor for insubordination and told them that their votes are not needed to determine who becomes the governor of Benue state.
The stakeholders believed That Ortom has no interest of Benue State at heart with such a decision.
