If you are a lover of history, the name Zeus would ring a bell. Zeus was the father of the gods in Ancient Greece and his namesake a 3-year-old Great Dane from the United States is the tallest dog in the world.

When it stands on its hind legs, the tallest dog in the world stretches to 7ft 4 and towers over his owners Kevin and Denise Doorlag.

Zeus weighs 155 pounds and eats more than 12 cups of food a day.  On September 11, 2014, Zeus’ owner, Kevin and Denise Doorlag, announced that Zeus had died.

Zeus was five years old, but because of his size, he died of natural causes due to old age. Up to date, no other dog has been able to dethrone  Zeus as the tallest dog in the world.
