Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 Specifications – Smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) tend to get suffocated under the weight of the brand’s flagship device. Just a few years ago, the A7 would have been the flagship with the kind of specs packed in it.

But this is 2018, the new Galaxy S7, announced in September, would have to contend with the tag of a mid-range device. However, this is one awesome mid-range.

Design

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) is a sleekly-designed aluminum and glass smartphone. The glass is premium Corning Gorilla Glass giving adequate protection to the display.

Like most Samsung smartphones, it has rounded edges with dimensions of 159.80 X 76.8 mm and a thickness of just 7.5mm.

Available in black, gold, pink and blue, the Galaxy A7 weighs just 169g.

Display

Samsung, for the first time, decided to bring a flagship feature to one of its mid-range smartphone’s display. The infinity display (found in top-tier Samsung models) on the Galaxy A7 is one way Samsung is trying to attract more attention to their mid-range devices.

Expect to see more of these additions in the coming years.

The display itself is a big 6’ full HD Super AMOLED affair with a resolution of 1080×2220 pixels and 411 PPI.

The tiny bezels give the impression of an even larger display on the Galaxy A7.

The combinations of screen resolutions, tiny bezels and display size hold the promise of awesome graphics. Watching HD movies would be amazing.

Samsung did not specify the chipset of the Galaxy A7 (2018). However, we know the phone is powered by a 2.2 GHz Octa-core Exynos 7885 processor.

Depending on the model, the 2018 Galaxy A7 (2018) would spot a RAM of either 4 or 6 GB. The internal storage also varies with the model and there are three versions.

The 4GB RAM models would be offered to the public in two internal storage variants of 64 and 128 GB. The 6GB RAM model comes in just one variant of 128GB of internal storage.

All models can be expanded up to 512GB with a microSD.

Out of the box, the phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo OS. It is expected that Samsung would send an update to the operating system before too long.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) is the first smartphone from Samsung to spot triple cameras.

The three cameras are rated 24MP, 8MP, and 5MP all combining different functions to produce amazing shots.

The 24MP lens is designed to let in more light with its bigger aperture for low-light shots. The 5MP is a depth sensor allowing users to control the depth of field while the 8MP serves as the Scene Optimizer.

With the Scene Optimizer, the Galaxy A7 (2018) can adjust colors, contrast, and brightness.

For taking selfies, Samsung provided a 24MP lens with a flashlight and a bokeh feature.

Also included in the front camera is a Pro Lighting Mode feature that can reproduce pro studio lighting. To add to the fun of taking selfies, there are also filters and AR emojis.

The Galaxy A7 (2018) follows the current trend of 3k+ batteries in smartphones. It comes with a 3300 mAh non-removable battery paired with a quick charging feature.

At the current exchange rate, Nigerians should expect to pay between 130,000 and 150,000 naira. Interested buyers in Kenya would likely pay between 32,000 and 35,000 Kenyan shillings.
