TECNO Spark 3 versus TECNO Spark 2 – The newly released TECNO Spark 3 is an amazing smartphone but when compared with the Tecno Spark 2 we may want to know if it is actually worth the money for it.

TECNO recently launched the successor to Tecno Spark 2 which is the Tecno Spark 3. There are some improvements to this new device, but we may want to know just how good these features are. First things first, the new Tecno Spark 3 comes in two different variants. One variant comes with 2 GB RAM, dual rear cameras and the newly improved Andriod 9.0 operating software. The second variant is a 1GB RAMdevice with a single rear camera and Andriod 8.0 O.S

Therefore, let’s compare the Tecno Spark 3 to Spark 2 to see how good this upgrade gets and why you may or may not consider an upgrade.

Tecno Spark 3 Vs Spark 2 – Design and display

The main improvement or difference between the new Tecno Spark 3 and Tecno Spark 2 is the display and design. The Tecno Spark 3 has a 6.2 inches IPS LCD display with the latest 19:9 aspect ratio and a notch where the speaker grill,front-facing camera, and other sensors reside.

But, the Tecno Spark 2 goes with a lower display of 6.0 inches and 18:9 aspect ratio.  However, both devices  possess a fingerprint sensor. And just like the Tecno Spark 2, the Tecno Spark 3 also possesses a dual SIM slot and a MicroSD card slot for additional storage.

The Spark 3 comes in just three colors which are: Blue, Gold, and Grey. whereas the Spark 2 could be bought in four colours; Coral Blue, Metallic Red, Champagne Gold, and Black.

Tecno Spark 3 vs Spark 2 – Hardware and Software:

In the area of hardware and software, both the Tecno Spark 3 and Tecno Spark 2 is the same. They are both powered by the MediaTek MT6580 SoC, which is a chipset made from the 28nm technology, with 4 cores clicking speed of about 1.3 GHz plus a Mali 400MP2 GPU for gaming purposes. The Spark 3 and Spark 2 has 1GB or 2GB RAM depending on the model, with 16GB of expandable storage. It is also vital to note that the 1GB  RAM model of both Spark 3 and Spark 2, runs the Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition. However, their 2GB RAM models run differently. The Spark 3  runs the Android 9.0 Pie while the Tecno Spark 2 Android 8.1 Oreo. Both devices are covered with Tecno’s HiOS UI which gives the devices a unique touch.

Tecno Spark 3 Vs Spark 2 – Battery and Camera

When it comes to the camera of Spark 3, the 1GB RAM model has a single 13MP rear camera and as for the 2GB RAM model, it has a 13MP + 2MP rear camera. Both models for Spark 3 also have a front-facing 8MP selfie camera, including a dual-LED flash. Nevertheless, the Spark 2 only comes single 13MP rear camera, plus an f/2.0 aperture and Triple LED flash and can shoot up to 1080p videos at 30fps.

When it comes to the battery, the Tecno Spark 3 still bears the same 3,500mAh battery capacity of the Tecno Spark 2.

Tecno Spark 3 Vs Spark 2 – Connectivity and Price

Both the Spark 3 and Spark 2 possesses the same connectivity ranging from Bluetooth, WiFi, WiFi direct, WiFi Hotspot, GPS a 3.5mm jack and a Micro USB port.

In terms of pricing,  the Tecno Spark 3 ranges between N34,000 – N37,000, depending on the model. While the price for the Tecno Spark 2 ranges between N35,000 – N40,000, depending on the model as well.
