Tension is building in the Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC), as the top governorship aspirants jostle to get delegates on their side ahead of the APC governorship primaries scheduled for Thursday 26th May 2022.
In Kaduna state, the battle for who succeeded Governor Nasir Elrufai as the next governor has taken a new dimension with the Governor being on a different side with stakeholders.
Two persons have emerged as the top contenders for the plum job namely, Business mogul and politician, Alhaji Sani Sha’aban and the incumbent senator for Kaduna central, Uba Sani, both are horse-trading to ensure they get the APC ticket next week Thursday.
Looking at the commentaries and testimonies, we have decided to take a deep look at the prospects of both candidates and their chances to clinch the governorship ticket.

Business magnet and Entrepreneur Sani Sha’aban is from Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria, he is a politician and a philanthropist. He served as a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives from May 2003 to May 2007 representing the Zaria Federal Constituency. He is 63years old and this will be his third attempt to contest for Governorship of Kaduna State.
Looking at the prospects of Sani Sha’aban, it will be more appropriate to quote Professor Katuka Yaki who is a Professor of Public Administration & Politics, who in his last piece on the Governorship Aspirant described who he is elaborately and his acceptability.
He elaborately noted that “It is sinequanon to remind the ruling APC family and civil servants in Kaduna State that the whole business of Federal Character, enshrined in Nigeria Constitution reflects the doctrine of egalitarianism, which power distribution must strictly be adhered by leaders elected, or appointed in the administration of the state”.
Taking a cursory look at the politics of Kaduna state, Now that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC)has only two gubernatorial contenders in the state waiting for primaries soonest in the person of Alhaji Sani Sha’aban and Senator Uba Sani, who are the main contenders, Professor Katuka advised Governor Elrufai and the APC to give a level playing grounds for all of them as they continue to canvass support from the APC stakeholders, and delegates across the state, with the desire to serve the people of Kaduna State.
The Professor of politics said, “a reasonable assessment of both aspirants attests that Alhaji Sani Sha’aban has the pedigree to make a meaningful contribution to making life better for the entire people of Kaduna State”.
He further said, “Thus, there is the need for APC stakeholders, and delegates to think of common needs and expectations, and also create a more legitimate and mutual ground in adopting Sha’aban as the candidate of the APC to administer the state comes 2023, devoid of sentiments”.
Judging from the perspective of the masses, and a more general grounded opinion across parties and experts in Kaduna State sees Sani Sha’aban is a more identified and clarified personality, who can share his credible perspective on getting the state back on track.
Sha’aban has possessed distinctive qualities of managing the conscious, and multiple problems bedeviling the state, and pundits say Honorable Sani Sha’aban is the only one that can accommodate, and apply the partnership and engagements models, in the actualization of the vision and philosophical intention of the All Progressive Congress (APC) blueprint and as well bring development without forms of bias to Kaduna State.
The general view of the people and, importantly, that Kaduna stakeholders across the board in the state, and beyond see the humble Sani Sha’aban’s qualities as having the high graded integrity, influence, empathy, and humility, that Kaduna needs at this time coupled with his antecedent as a devoted, and promoter of compelling vision who could accept criticism from electorates, and takes observations.
With his soaring popularity as the days go by, It is obvious Sani Sha’aban could be the next governor of Kaduna State, if the APC family and delegates insist on exhibiting courage, passion, confidence, and are committed to jettisoning ill-wooing syndrome by coming together to change the narratives by voting for an experienced leader, with records of proven integrity.
It is also believed that Sha’aban is the democratic candidate that detests the Muslim-Muslim ticket because he believes in the rule of law and equalitarian doctrine.
Another factor that favors Sha’aban is the people’s perceptions of zoning. The public opinion gathered in Kaduna State’s three senatorial districts shows that it will be better for the incumbent Governor Nasir Elrufai to be an apostle of egalitarianism and adjust his support, and opinion to the doctrine of power shift to other zones rather than his zone. And this also favors Sha’aban.
Honorable Sani Sha’aban is more friendly than other contestants and he doesn’t discriminate based on tribe and religion, he is loved by the masses and the stakeholders including delegates and if the contest is kept free and fair without interference, he will win the APC ticket.
Who is Senator Uba Sani?

Senator Uba Sani was born on 31st December 1970, he is a Nigerian politician and the incumbent senator for Kaduna Central senatorial district of Kaduna State, at the National Assembly Abuja.
He was elected on 23 February 2019, under the political party of the All Progressive Congress. He is 51 years old.
Before this day, Senator Uba Sani’s popularity was just amongst his aides and few people from his constituency.
But with the governor’s disposition to install a successor, Senator Uba Sani got favored by Governor Elrufai who has chosen him as his anointed candidate.
With how things are going, if the incumbent governor continues to defy the opinions of the stakeholders and delegates then he will impose Sani Uba on the people of Kaduna state.
Conclusively, if the primaries are fairly conducted, Sani Sha’aban will emerge victoriously, but if the Governor decides to veto the primaries then he will make Uba Sani the flag bearer of APC.
