Anambra State’s Governor Chukwuma Soludo has issued an order that prohibits the operation of casinos and gaming centers in the state, including BetNaija, due to allegations of “dark deals.”
Bet9ja, 1960bet, BetKing, Nairabet, 9jaPredict, and BetNigeria are all well-known betting platforms in Nigeria.
The notice of the ban is included in a statement that was signed by Mr. Donatus Onyenji, who is the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism; Mr. Richard Madiebo, who is the Chairman of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service; and Mr. Chikodi Anara, who is the Commissioner for Homeland Affairs.
According to the statement, the prohibition was enacted as a response to an alarmingly high number of petitions recently received by the government citing the manipulation of gaming machines and the lack of transparency in the payout of wins.
It was stated that the claims amounted to a major violation of global best practices in the business, which the government would not condone under the supervision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
The statement partly read, “This fraudulent practice will not be allowed to thrive under the watch of Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s administration and therefore must be dealt with immediately.
“Consequently, the Anambra government hereby directs operators of casino games in Hotels, Restaurants and Bars to suspend all Gaming and Casino operations with immediate effect pending the conclusion of investigations.”
