In this article, I will show you how to check your BVN number using USSD Code on your mobile phone.

Did you write down you BVN in the back of a notebook and you can’t find it? Or you have totally forgotten your BVN? Don’t fret, getting your  BVN is more easier than you could have ever imagine. All you need is your phone and the number  you used in opening your bank account.

Well, before we get into the nitty-gritty of this article, do you know the meaning of BVN and why the Central Bank of Nigeria Implemented it?

BVN stands for Bank Verification Number, it is a biometric identification number in the database of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The number helps the Central Bank of Nigeria to curb fraudulent activities in the banking system in Nigeria. It is mandatory for every account holder to have a Bank Verification Number which is linked to all their bank accounts.

The following information is stored in the Bank Verification Number: photograph, fingerprint, name, age, date of birth, address ete will be stored in the database of the Central Bank of Nigeria.On completion of the registration for the Bank Verification Number, you are required to link it to all your bank accounts.

To check your BVN verification code on your mobile phone you are required to dial a specified USSD code. The code does not require Internet connection but requires a minimum of 10 Naira on your phone. That is you will be charged 10 Naira.
