Copa America 2024 – Ronaldinho’s words come to mind! Brazil eliminated by Uruguay in Copa America

Brazil lost to Uruguay on penalties and bid farewell to the Copa America in the quarter-finals. Following this result, Brazilian legend Ronaldinho’s statements became a hot topic again.

The 48th Copa America, organized by the Confederation of South American Football (CONMEBOL), is being hosted by the United States of America (USA) in partnership with the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Football (CONCACAF).

Uruguay and Brazil faced off in the quarter-finals of the tournament. The match, played in Las Vegas, ended in a goalless draw in both regular time and extra time, but Uruguay advanced to the semi-finals on penalties.

Uruguay beat Brazil on penalties

Marcelo Bielsa’s students managed to take the match to penalties despite being reduced to 10 men after Nandez was shown a red card in the 74th minute.

Uruguay defeated Brazil 4-2 in a penalty shootout.

Semi-final matches have been announced

The Copa America semi-finals will be played on July 10-11.

Argentina and Canada will face each other on Wednesday, July 10.

On Thursday, July 11, Uruguay will seek a place in the final against Colombia.

Ronaldinho’s words are back on the agenda

On the other hand, after Brazil bid farewell to the tournament early, the statement made by world-famous former football player Ronaldinho in the past weeks came to the fore again.

The Brazilian legend said the following:

That’s it for me, friends. I will not watch any Brazilian matches in the Copa America and I will not celebrate any victory. This Brazilian national team is perhaps one of the worst teams in recent years; it has no respectable leader, mostly average players. I have been following football since I was a child and I have never seen such a bad situation. A national team without love for the jersey, without determination and most importantly without football. I repeat: your performance was one of the worst I have ever seen. A disgrace.
