Woman Arrested For Allegedly Trying to Sneak “Colos” Into Prison for Son

Mother smuggling in Ogun

A woman has been arrested after allegedly attempting to smuggle substances suspected to be a psychoactive drug natively know as ‘colos’ into the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The incident happened on Friday, August 28, 2026, during a routine security check at the entrance of the correctional facility.

According to the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, the woman had visited an inmate who is on death row.

But during the usual screening, correctional officers reportedly discovered a sachet of Milo beverage allegedly containing substances suspected to be “colos.”

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Odukoya Olayinka, said the discovery was made at about 1:33 pm.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Controller of Corrections, Ogun State Command, Kamoru Adesina, praised the officers for their alertness and professionalism.

He also reiterated the Service’s zero-tolerance stance on the trafficking of drugs and other prohibited items inside correctional facilities.

According to him, correctional centres are meant to reform and rehabilitate inmates and should not become channels for the circulation of illicit substances.

The Command has also warned members of the public against attempting to bring prohibited items into custodial facilities, stressing that anyone caught would face the full weight of the law.
