1. Seychelles  ( World ranking: 21)

You can visit over 99 countries in the world with a Seychelles passport completely visa-free.. 31 will require that you get a visa on arrival while 63 countries require a visa before a visit.

2. Mauritius ( World ranking: 25)

Mauritius is yet another Island country.  However, it is the 170th largest country in the world and by no means small. You can visit over 64 countries (visa-free) in the world with a Mauritius passport. However, you will still require a visa for about 67 locations and 32 countries require that you purchase a Visa on arrival.

3. South Africa ( World ranking: 44)

South Africa is also one of the top 10 African passports for easy travel. Notable for its abundance of tourist sites and economic activities, it is no wonder that the South African passport carries a lot of weight. With the South African passport, you can travel to over 49 countries in the world without a visa. You will require a visa for well over 101 countries and 33 countries require that you get a visa on arrival.

4. Botswana ( World ranking: 58)

Botswana is a landlocked country in the southern part of Africa. However, it does not stop them from having an incredibly powerful passport.  You can visit well over 70 countries without a visa but will require a Visa on arrival in 28 countries.

5. Lesotho ( world ranking: 59)

Lesotho is also a country in the Southern part of Africa, within the South African border. You can visit well over 47 countries, visa-free, while 29 countries will require a visa on arrival. Over 122 countries will still require a visa alongside the Lesotho passport before a visit.

6. Swaziland ( World ranking: 60)

Swaziland is also a landlocked country in Africa. You can travel to over 46 countries in the world, visa-free with a Swaziland passport.  You will require a visa on arrival in about 28 other countries while 123 countries in the world require a visa alongside a Swazi passport.

7. Malawi (World ranking: 61)

Although Malawi ranks as one of the least developed countries in Africa, the Malawian passport is high ranking.  You can travel to well over 44 countries in the world absolutely visa-free with the Malawian passport. In 29 other countries, you may require a visa on arrival while 125 countries require a visa alongside your passport for entry.

8. Kenya (World ranking: 62)

The Republic of Kenya also holds a top spot among the countries in Africa with powerful passports that can get you into a lot of countries in the world, completely visa-free. You can visit about 39 countries in the world, 33 on arrival and about 126 will require a visa alongside the Kenya passport.

9. Namibia (world ranking: 63)

Nambia also ranks high among African countries with a significant amount of freedom to visit other countries in the world without a visa. You can travel to about 99 countries in the world completely visa-free while you will require a visa on arrival in about 42 of these countries.

10. Gambia ( World ranking: 64)

The Gambia also ranks high on the top African most powerful passports. You can travel to about 45 countries in the world completely visa free but will require a visa on arrival in about 25 countries. 128 countries in the world, however, require that you have a visa alongside your Namibian passport.

  • Congo-  18 jurisdictions, visa free; 21 countries, visa on arrival
  • Equatorial guinea –  16 countries, visa free;  23 countries , visa on arrival
  • Burundi- 16 countries, visa free;  22 countries , visa on arrival
  • Nigeria – 22 countries, visa free;  21 countries , visa on arrival
  • Djibouti – 9 countries, visa free;  23 countries , visa on arrival
  • DRC – 14 countries, visa free;  21 countries , visa on arrival
  • Libya- 10 countries, visa free;  17 countries , visa on arrival
  • Eritrea- 7 countries, visa free;  23 countries , visa on arrival
  • Sudan- 8 countries, visa free;  19 countries , visa on arrival
  • Ethiopia- 16 countries, visa free;  23 countries , visa on arrival
  • Somalia- 6 countries, visa free;  18 countries , visa on arrival
