Check out top Nigerian Strikers who flopped in the premier league

We have seen stars such as Kanu Nwankwo, Jay-Jay Okocha, Yakubu, Osaze Odemwingie, and Mikel Obi shine in the English premier league but not every Nigerian had a good time in England.

Here are four Nigerian strikers who failed to leave their mark in England:

Julius Aghahowa

Julius was a  prolific striker for the Nigerian team with his trademark acrobatic celebration but his spell in the EPL was nothing to write home about. Julius Aghawoa spent a year and a half at Wigan Athletic but is 20 league appearances yielded no drama, no summersault and not one single before departing for keyserispior.

George Finidi

Although he had an excellent time in Ajax, where he won the Champions League. However, his decision to move to the EPL was undoubtedly a big mistake. During the latter stages of his career, George Finidi signed for Ipswich and was expected to be the “fox in the box” for the Red Robbins. Unfortunately, he netted only 7 goals in his 35 appearances for Charlton.

Brown Ideye

Brown Ideye is unarguably the worst signing in West Brom history. In 2014, Brown Ideye was the highest bought player in West Brom before Jay Rodriguez broke it in 2017. His shambolic performance saw him scored only 4 goals in 24 appearances. He was later sold to Olympiakos in 2015.

Ahmed Musa

When Leicester city announced the signing o Ahmed Musa, We all expected to watch counter-attacking football at its best: no defender would be able to stop the speed combo of Vardy and the Nigeria winger(so we thought). Also, coming from the bench and scoring 2 goals in a pre-season game against Barcelona promised a bright future for the Nigerian striker. But when the 2016/2017 season commenced, Musa was a disappointment. He managed only 21 appearances netting just two goals before departing to Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia.
