Nigeria is home to some of the tallest buildings in Africa. Many of these buildings are located in Abuja, and in Lagos, the economic hub of the nation. Here is a list of the tallest buildings in Nigeria in 2019.

This list uses a standard measurement of height, and it does not include antennas and masts. This is because the inclusion of these structures may make the post lose its essence.

Top 5 tallest buildings in Nigeria

1. NECOM House, Lagos.

This building is located in Marina, Lagos State. It stands at a height of 160m (525ft), and has a floor count of 32. The building, which was completed in 1979, suffered a fire in 1983 and another in 2015. Yet, it still stands tall and remains the tallest building in Nigeria.

2. Union Bank Building, Lagos.

Standing at a height of 124m (407ft), this building is also located in Marina, Lagos State. The 28-story building is the headquarters of the Union Bank of Nigeria.

3. The World Trade Centre (Tower 2), Abuja.

No, this building is not located in America. It is located in the Central Business District of Abuja, Nigeria. The 25-floor office building stands at a height of 120m (394ft). It was completed in 2016.

4. The World Trade Centre (Tower 1), Abuja.

This building is the residential twin of the World Trade Centre (Tower 1). With 24 floors containing 120 apartments, the building stands at 110m (361ft). It is  located in the Central Business District of Abuja and was completed in 2016

5. Cocoa House.

This 26-storey 105m (344ft) high rise is located in Ibadan, Oyo State.  The building was formerly known as “Ile Awon Agbe”. This is translated as “House of Farmers”.It was gutted by fire on 9th January 1985 and was rehabilitated for use in August 1992. The Cocoa House is the 5th tallest building in Nigeria.
